Your bed is very important and if it isn’t supporting you in the right way, it can affect everything from your energy to your long-term health. With so many options on the market, many shoppers feel overwhelmed when choosing the perfect mattress.
Graber’s Handcrafted Furniture in Odon, Indiana offers a carefully selected range of mattresses designed for comfort, durability, and proper alignment. This guide walks you through the key factors to consider so you can choose a mattress that truly fits your sleeping needs.
1. Understanding Mattress Types

At Graber’s Handcrafted Furniture, we offer three mattress categories that provide dependable support and long-term durability for most sleepers: innerspring, memory foam, and hybrid options. Each collection provides dependable comfort, long-lasting quality, and balanced support for different sleep styles.
- Innerspring: Built with steel coils for a firm, responsive feel. Great airflow and strong support.
- Memory foam: High-density foam that contours your body, offering pressure relief and a cushioned feel.
- Hybrid: Combines coil support with foam comfort layers, creating a balanced sleep experience.

Graber’s carries all of the following options:
- Legacy & Signature Collections – all-foam
- Heirloom & Gemstone Collections – hybrid
- Grand Collection – traditional innerspring
Each option caters to different comfort preferences and sleep styles.
2. Matching your Mattress to Your Sleeping Experience

Your sleeping position plays a critical role in keeping your spine and neck properly aligned. There are a few common sleeping positions people use.
- Side sleeper: Hybrid or memory foam mattresses help relieve pressure on shoulders and hips.
- Back sleeper: Memory foam, hybrid, or innerspring mattresses offer the support needed to keep the spine aligned.
- Stomach sleeper: Hybrid mattresses provide stability and prevent the midsection from sinking too far.
- Combination sleeper: Hybrid and memory foam options adapt easily to movement.
At Graber’s Handcrafted Furniture, our team helps customers match their sleep position with the right mattress construction, so they experience proper support, pressure relief, and long-term comfort. Whether you’re a side, back, stomach, or combination sleeper, we guide you to the mattress that fits your natural posture.
3. Understanding Mattress Firmness Levels

We rate mattress firmness on a clear 1–10 scale.
- Soft (3–4/10): Plush, pressure-relieving, ideal for side sleepers and lightweight individuals.
- Medium (5–7/10): Balanced support and comfort. This is the most common firmness because it works well for many sleep styles.
- Firm (8–10/10): Minimal sink-in, strong surface support, ideal for stomach sleepers and anyone who prefers a more solid feel.
Graber’s offers all levels of firmness so customers can compare them in person and choose what feels best.
4. Think About Size

With several mattress sizes to choose from, you should base your decision on room layout, number of sleepers, and personal comfort needs.
- Twin (39” x 75”): Ideal for kids, teens, dorms, and small rooms.
- Full (54” x 75”): Good for single adults and guest rooms.
- Queen (60” x 80”): The most popular size, excellent for couples or single sleepers who want more room.
- King (76” x 80”): Best for large bedrooms and couples wanting maximum space.
- California King (72” x 84”): Longer design suited for tall individuals and long, narrow rooms.
Graber’s Handcrafted Furniture not only offers all standard mattress sizes, but can also order custom dimensions for unique spaces, antique bedframes, or specialty bedroom layouts.
5. Don’t Forget Special Features

Certain mattresses offer added features that improve support and sleep quality. In this section we will talk about the main 4 special features that are beneficial for your mattresses.
- Cooling Technology: Helps dissipate heat for a cooler sleep environment.
- Motion Isolation: Minimizes movement transfer—ideal for couples.
- Edge Support: Strengthens the outer perimeter, prevents sagging, and increases usable sleep surface.
- Adjustable Base Compatibility: Allows elevated sleeping positions to reduce pressure and improve circulation.
Our mattress collections at Graber’s Handcrafted Furniture include options with cooling foam, motion-reducing designs, reinforced edge support, and adjustable-base compatibility.
6. Budget & Lifespan

Your budget plays a major role in choosing the perfect mattress. If you want a mattress that lasts longer, expect to spend slightly more upfront, since higher-quality construction pays off over time.
- Budget ($300–$700): A cost-effective choice for short-term needs or low-use bedrooms.
- Midrange ($700–$1,500): Balanced comfort, quality, and durability; suitable for long-term everyday use.
- Luxury ($1,500–$3,000): Premium materials and top comfort for the best sleep experience.
Here at Graber’s Handcrafted Furniture, we carry mattresses across all price levels and help shoppers compare construction, comfort, and durability to make a confident choice.
7. Always Test Before You Buy

Before you commit, take time to check these three essentials:
- Brand Reviews: Look for real customer experiences to learn how the mattress performs long-term.
- Warranty: A ten-year warranty or longer offers good protection and peace of mind.
- Return Policy: Choose a retailer that offers simple returns or exchanges if the mattress does not suit your needs.
How You Know You Can Trust Graber’s Mattresses

Shoppers trust Graber’s Handcrafted Furniture for reliable service and support. Our customer reviews, warranty, and return policy greatly display this.
Customers are very pleased with their mattresses from us saying, “love my mattress from Graber’s Handcrafted Furniture” and “I haven’t slept this well in 15 years.”
We offer multiple different warranties based on which mattress you buy from them. All of our warranties last for 20 years. The warranty on some of our mattresses is 10 years full coverage and 10 years 50% coverage. The other warranty that we have is a 13 year full coverage and a 7 year 50% coverage. We include one of these warranty options with every mattress purchase at Graber’s.
For up to 90 days, we will give you our satisfaction guarantee. We do request that you sleep on the mattress for at least 30 days to allow your body to adjust to your new mattress. After that you have 2 options:
- You can return the mattress to our factory, and we can swap out the padding to adjust to the firmness that you desire. There is no cost to do that unless we are adding foam or putting in more expensive materials than the original mattress. In that case the price would only be the extra material cost, no labor.
- You can choose a different mattress and return the original mattress. In that case we will credit you 85% of the wholesale purchase price. If you choose a more expensive mattress, we will charge the difference, if you choose a less expensive mattress, we will not give any money back just an exchange.
